🌿 Plant Grid
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Plant Grid ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information — name and email address when you sign in with Google, Apple, or email/password. Anonymous accounts collect no personal information.
- Plant wall data — grid layouts, plant names, and watering timestamps you create in the app. This data is stored in Firebase Firestore under your account.
- Photos — images you take or select for plant identification are sent to the PlantNet API for analysis and are not stored by us.
- Usage analytics — anonymous events (e.g. screen views, feature usage) collected via Firebase Analytics to help us improve the app. This data contains no personally identifiable information.
- Crash reports — anonymous crash logs collected via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and sync your plant wall data across devices.
- To send watering reminder notifications you have opted into.
- To enable sharing your wall with collaborators you invite.
- To analyze aggregate usage patterns and improve the app.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting. Firebase Privacy Policy.
- PlantNet API — plant identification from photos. Photos are processed by PlantNet and are subject to their privacy policy. PlantNet About.
- Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple — used only for authentication. We receive your name and email address.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We use Firestore security rules to ensure you can only access your own data and walls explicitly shared with you.
5. Local Storage
Plant wall data is also cached locally on your device using encrypted shared preferences so the app works offline. This data is removed when you uninstall the app.
6. Your Rights
- Access — you can view all your data within the app.
- Deletion — deleting your account removes all associated data from our servers. Contact us at the address below to request account deletion.
- Portability — contact us to request an export of your plant data.
7. Children's Privacy
Plant Grid is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
